The portal is part of the project: "Support to the Safety & Security of Humanitarian and Development Organizations and their Staff," funded by Czech Development Cooperation.

    Salanga was created by an international team of professionals with many years of experience in the humanitarian and security sectors. We focus on providing assistance to organisations working in areas of crisis all over the world. Through specialised training, support and consultancy in headquarters and directly in the field, we contribute to ensuring the secure and effective design, implementation and evaluation of humanitarian and development projects.


    ADRA is one of the biggest humanitarian organizations in the Czech Republic with its humanitarian and development projects in more then 20 countries.  ADRA provides help and assistance to people in need and also works to improve the quality of life for the world's most vulnerable.

    FoRS The Czech Forum for Development Co-operation is a platform for Czech non-governmental non-profit organisations (NGOs) and other non-profit subjects, involved in development cooperation, development education and humanitarian assistance.

introductionThis module will provide you with the necessary introduction on how to navigate the e-learning portal.  You will also learn why Salanga, ADRA and FoRS are partnering on this project focusing on safety and security.

Basic Security ConceptThe aim of this module is to introduce the basic concept of aid workers' safety and security. This module contains three lessons: Security as a means to an end, Security strategies Security approaches

And a brief test which will help you evaluate your learning process.


This module summarizes some aspects of preparation for humanitarian and development workers before they deploy to international assignemnets (or voluntary misions).

This module finishes with simple etst evaluating your learning process from this module.

Contact with ViolenceThis module focuses on the most common aid workers' contact with arms and violence. Through its three presentations provides inside into checpoints, hostile environments and landmines.

TTechnical Orientationhis module provides basic technical knowledge of communication, GPS navigation and power supply including generators and solar power.

This module finishes with simple test evaluating your learning process from this module.

final TestThe purpose of this final test is to evaluate the overall knowledge of the safety and security topics included in this e-learning course. The final test includes questions from each module of this e- learning course for humanitarian personal safety and security.

By passing this final test a certificate will be issued to you.

ForumThe purpose of this security forum of Czech humanitarian and development agencies and their staff is to initiate advanced learning and sharing environment. Various topics related to the aid workers safety and security will be disscused in this forum.
